A steel pipe reducer is a component used in the pipelines to reduce its size from large to small bore in accordance to the inner diameter. The length of the reduction here is equal to an average of the smaller and larger pipe diameters. Here, the reducer can be used as a diffuser or a nozzle.
The pipe flow is affected by the inside diameter conical transition configuration which can be axially moved and externally reconfigured to provide for more economical reducer fittings. Thus, concentric reducers connect pipes of unequal size but have a common centerline. In other words, it is a type of pipe fitting with different size ends to join pipes of different diameter that joins pipe sections on the same axis.
Butt weld reducer can adjust the flow rate and speed. One end welded with a large diameter pipe and another end with a smaller OD pipe. It has two types:
Concentric and Eccentric Reducer.
Use these concentric reducers to connect two carbon steel pipes with different inside diameters. The carbon steel construction is stronger than stainless steel, is very resistant to wear, and can withstand high pressure, but is also susceptible to corrosion.
Reducer is a kind of fitting that be used for reducing piping size. There are 2 types reducer as follows:
a. Concentric reducer: have a central axis (centerline) of the section between the large and small.
b. Eccentric reducer: the central axis has a different (offset) between a large section and small.
Concentric reducer is most commonly used and often eccentric reducer used in piping in about pump and pipe rack area.
